We’re excited to share that our team was invited to speak at the Cybersecurity Flanders Industry Day 2024, a premier event uniting industry experts, entrepreneurs, and researchers to drive forward cybersecurity innovation in Flanders and beyond. Hosted at the Lamot Conference Center in Mechelen, the event highlighted how research can power real-world solutions and strengthen collaborations with the business community.
The Blue41 team both hosted a breakout session on LLM Security and showcased data exfiltration attacks on AI assistants in an interactive demo.
During a breakout session, Tim Van hamme and Thomas Vissers demonstrated firsthand the rapidly evolving threats that arise when LLMs shift from basic assistants to more autonomous systems. By walking participants through live examples—including prompt injections, data leaks, and adversarial attacks—we underscored how these sophisticated AI tools can both accelerate productivity and introduce serious vulnerabilities if not properly secured.
At the Blue41 demo booth, attendees also had the chance to try hacking an AI assistant themselves, testing out strategies to exfiltrate sensitive information through prompt injection. This interactive demo not only showcased the tangible risks organizations face but also equipped attendees with practical approaches to strengthen their AI defenses.
The event was organized by Cybersecurity Flanders, illustrating the region’s leadership in cybersecurity research and its dedication to working closely with businesses on innovative solutions. We’re proud to have contributed our insights and hands-on demonstrations to an event that fosters vital knowledge sharing and collaboration across academia and industry.
